Looking back at 2017

On checking my Ravelry patterns – http://www.ravelry.com/designers/sylvia-leake –  I realised I’d managed to design, knit, test knit, photograph, write up and publish 15 new knitting patterns last year!  Starting with ‘A Badger Blanket’ at the beginning of the year, which was actually designed and made at the end of 2016.  So here’s the round up:

Fair Isle/Stranded knitting

I’ve been doing a lot of Fair Isle (stranded) knitting recently and have come up with the following designs.  The written patterns include instructions for knitting flat on two needles with a seam at the back and knitting in the round on a circular needle with no seaming necessary.  The patterns can be found in my online shops – see sidebar.

Fair Isle Chicks on an Egg Cosy

On a whim yesterday I decided to use an old Fair Isle pattern from my machine knitting days to make a hand knit egg cosy!  I wrote up the pattern today and would like to share it with you here Fair Isle Chicks Egg Cosy

These cute Fair Isle Chicks look gorgeous decorating an egg cosy for your Easter breakfast table, however they could also be used on any number of projects – hats, mittens, scarves and so on.

You could also use the cosy to cover chocolate eggs for the children as an Easter surprise!

The cosy is an easy and quick knit, an ideal first Fair Isle project, why not make more than one using different colour combinations.

Birdie Baubles

I’ve enjoyed having these little chaps out to decorate the Christmas Tree, they’ve appeared in many of my photos over the festive period!  All the birdies are knit from my Seasonal Birdie Baubles pattern, which can be found in my online shops.
